Its two valves are uniform in color, between brown and white. Its habitat is the intertidal zone, reaching buried between 15 and 30 cm. It is very appreciated in the market thanks to its excellent quality and its ability to last longer live out of water. It is the most valued clam variety in the ‘Rías Baixas’. It is similar in form to other varieties of Galician clams but its size becomes larger than the other varieties. It is prepared in numerous ways, but the most common is consumed raw with a squeeze of lemon. For this, the most appropriate are large specimens.
